The LCPS Foundation has awarded more than $370,000 in competitive grants, with individual grants up to $5,000, to teachers, counselors and other school staff to help fund innovate classroom projects to enhance student learning literacy, math, science, technology, and the arts.
The LCPS Foundation awarded $27,000 during the 22-23 School Year and has allocated $30,000 for the 23-24 school year, supporting the outstanding LCPS educators in the quest for excellence in our classrooms. With the help of generous donors, the Foundation provided $100 vouchers to Alpha Teaching Tools for classroom supplies.

The Class of 2024 will participate in commencement ceremonies May 23-25 at the Pan American Center, 1810 E. University Avenue, on the campus of New Mexico State University.
Attendees will be required to follow NMSU’s clear bag policy, which means no bags that do not align with the policy will be allowed inside the venue.
Approved bags include clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12 inches wide by six inches deep and 12 inches high. Small clutch bags are allowed, as well as soft, flexible seat cushions.
Please see the photo of all prohibited items that will not be allowed in the Pan American Center. The Pan Am staff asked me to send again as this list will be strictly enforced.

La clase del 2024 tendrá ceremonias de graduación del 23 al 25 de mayo en el Pan American Center, 1810 E. University Avenue, en el campus de la Universidad Estatal de Nuevo México.
Esta es la primera vez desde el 2019 que las seis escuelas preparatorias de las Escuelas Públicas de Las Cruces organizan graduaciones en el Pan Am.
Los asistentes deberán seguir la regla de bolsas transparentes de NMSU, lo que significa que no se permitirán bolsas que no sigan esta regla dentro del lugar.
Las bolsas permitidas serán aquellas de plástico transparente, vinilo o PVC y que no excedan las 12 pulgadas de ancho por seis pulgadas de profundidad y 12 pulgadas de largo. Se permiten bolsas de mano pequeñas, así como cojines para sentarse que sean suaves y flexibles.

On April 12, the 2024 NMAA Girls' Powerlifting State Championships took place at the Rio Rancho events center in Albuquerque.
At the state championship, Centennial High School senior, Zantelle Rodriguez took first place after lifting a total of 780 pounds.
Zantelle has been involved in girls powerlifting for the Hawks since her freshman year.
As a senior, she has earned her team the state championship for girls powerlifting.

On Saturday, May 18, the Centennial varsity softball team played their hearts out as they led an extraordinary comeback in the heat of battle while in the consolation bracket, with hopes to clench the state title.
The lady Hawks not only defeated the Alamogordo Tigers once, dominating the first game to win 6 -0. But went on to defend their title, twice… taking down the Tigers and winning the State Championship with a final score of 6-5.
This State title is the second state championship in program history for the Hawks since 2016.
Congratulations to Paul Ritter, the LCPS student athlete of the week from Centennial High School. Paul is a senior on the golf team. His teammates know him to be enthusiastic a& creative. When he isn’t playing golf, his interests are film, art, and playing piano. Great job, Paul!
Hats off to Carly Moore, the LCPS student athlete of the week from CHS. Carly is a sophomore and plays golf for the Hawks. As a teammate, she’s caring, thoughtful, creative, and enthusiastic. Off the course, Carly enjoys time with family and friends. Congratulations, Carly!!

If you are at least 15 years of age and attending high school - or graduating in summer 2024 - we can help you get job experience! Paid internships will be offered to students in Doña Ana County. Work part-time earning $15/hour, not to exceed 160 hours for the length of the program.
Internships will give students an idea about what it is like to have a career, while developing marketable soft skills that are important to employers such as communication, teamwork and problem solving in the workplace. Students can add the internship experience to their resume and college application. Specific details about job assignments and program information will be shared with students during program orientation.
